The Dandelions we are | After the long winter the seeds that survived the chill, where it can get nasty at times here in New England, comes spring, the soil unfreezes, fresh water are dripping like in a soothing sauna and bringing life to a new plant that grows a bright yellow flower no bee could miss. The pollinated one is given the sign to move on to the next step where the flower turns into a ball of white hairs ready for the next wind blow to spread the seeds for next year's dandelions. U-lala what a romantic botanical observation . . .

The bright yellow flower awaiting it's bee next to the perfect white white ball of seeds, look like the blond grandchild next to their grand parent. One just starting their circle of life and the one that approaches their end.

Trying to be helpful beyond my daily selfishness, brought me to an elderly house in a near by neighborhood, delivering to the residents their grocery items they have requested.

As they are tagged as stay in room or die you find folks that are locked in their rooms for a good few weeks, rarely see faces other then themselves and occasional maintenance folks, where the lucky ones whom have basic digital skills can communicate with their friends and family, adding some digital love to their sucked out of anyone else but you period.

Not so great for them.

Did my best to get their attention while they pick their order and find on their being, some could be talked into an answer some were just nodding acknowledgement. Not sure what they were more grateful for, the delivery or my approach to them.

Just realizing that these folks have already lived most of their life with their highs and lows, they payed most of their dues to the society - so being grateful is optional for them, therefore getting a gratitude from an elderly person is multiplied by their age, yeah a little bit of math, but you can realize it is a lot. So much for one day twelve floors and an overwhelming amount of gratefulness.

You want to become as grateful when you turn from a bright yellow to a white ball and spread seeds of appreciation all around yourself, creating a better generation of new dandelions the next time they are called to shine.

It wont be a waste if you are grateful all along being a shiny dandelion yourself.

and lastly, find as many ways to be helpful to the golden - agers - as eventually you would become one yourself, but also for knowing you have done one or two good things in your life that has nothing to do with you. It is rewarding . . .
